14th Annual Chicago Half Marathon & 5K
On September 12, 2010, 20,000 runners will hit the scenic Chicago streets, starting and ending just south of the Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park.

Runners will enjoy a beautiful half-marathon course along Lake Shore Drive, offering stunning views of the iconic Chicago skyline. Runners will also have entertainment throughout the course and the benefit of Gatorade Endurance aide stations.

Oompah 5K Run/Walk, Oktoberfest & Bags Tournament
Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108
The Inaugural Oompah 5K Run/Walk, Oktoberfest and Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club Fourth Annual Bags Tournament will be held in conjunction Sept. 16 at Indian Lakes Resort, 250 W. Schick Road in Bloomingdale.

Bags registration begins at 5 p.m., with the tourney starting at 6 p.m. Players of all ages are welcome. Entry fee is $50. The tournament features $500 for first place and $250 for second. Registration is available online at www.brrotary.net .

The 5K Run/Walk and Oktoberfest begin simultaneously at 7 p.m. The events offer a USATF-certified 5K run/walk, food vendors, music by Jimmy’s Bavarians four-piece band, raffle prizes and other fun activities. Early bird rates are $29 for race and festival, and $20 for festival only. Regular rates of $34/$25 apply after Sept. 4.

Pioneer Trail Run

The Pioneer Run is a winding 6 1/2 mile run through the Forest Preserve of Cook County. Race begins at 8:30am! Great things are in store for all racers, especially the goodie bag!

Flatwater Classic- Friends of the Chicago River

From first-time paddlers to avid racers and from families to corporate teams, Flatwater Classic participants power down the river in standard canoes and kayaks, as well as 26-foot Voyageur replica boats. The Chicago River Flatwater Classic, the only canoe and kayak race on the Chicago River. Paddlers begin the 7.25 mile course at Clark Park (3400 N. Rockwell) and paddle south the finish at Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown (300 W. 19th St.).Friends of the Chicago River founded the Flatwater Classic in 2000 to give people a chance to see the Chicago River and learn for themselves why it needs their help. Alive with activity both on and under the water, the Chicago River is home to 70 species of fish, 60 kinds of birds, and a growing diversity of mammals. The race is then followed by a festival at Ping Tom Memorial Park.
