Chicago
Photos from The Willis Tower Ledge
The recent renaming of the
old Sears Tower to Willis Tower has grabbed some headlines, but the
building's newest features are four glass-enclosed retractable 'ledges'
that have Chicagoans and out-of-town visitors buzzing and lining up to
catch the views it now offers. Standing at 1,450 feet and 110 stories
high, Willis Tower, the tallest building in the western hemisphere is
impressive in itself. The new additions only heighten the thrills of a
visit. There are four glass balconies located on the west side of the
building's 103rd floor, 1350 feet above the pavement below. They can each
support up to 5 tons of live weight.
