Trolley Service Begins Memorial Day Weekend
Starting Saturday, May 24, Chicago’s Free Trolleys will begin daily
service to many popular locations and cultural attractions such as the
Museum Campus, Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier.
The free trolley system is simple to use. No ticket or reservation is
needed. Just catch a free trolley at any specially marked stop. All of the
free trolley routes connect to a CTA, Metra or Amtrak station, and most
routes connect with another route making it easy to explore many
destinations.
From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day downtown free trolleys operate
daily, running every 20 to 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., with
extended service during the Taste of Chicago until 7 p.m. The Lincoln Park
free trolley operates only on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Navy Pier free trolley operates daily, year-round from 10 a.m. to one

Free Trolley Tips
Where do the free trolleys go?
The free trolleys connect many of Chicago’s most popular visitor
destinations. The route maps are color-coded to show each route and the
many destinations that each route serves.
When do the free trolleys run?
The free trolleys operate from May 24, 2008 through September 1, 2008. The
Shopping, Metra/Museums, Metra/Navy Pier and LaSalle Street Station free
trolleys run daily from 10 AM until 6 PM, with extended service until 7 PM
during the Taste of Chicago. The Lincoln Park Shuttle (10 AM to 6 PM)
operates on weekends and holidays only. The Navy Pier (blue square) free
trolleys operate during the hours that the Pier is open. For more Navy

Where do I catch a free trolley?
Look for free trolley signs at the stops marked on the map or click on the
free trolley stops link. Free trolleys can pick up or drop off only at
designated stops. SAFETY FIRST!
Are all trolleys free?
No. Only those displaying a window sign marked "Free Trolley" are free of
charge.
Do I need a ticket?
No ticket or reservation is needed to ride the free trolleys. Riders must
board 30 minutes before service ends.
Can I bring my group?
Due to space limitations, free trolleys cannot accommodate large groups
traveling together.
How else can I get around Chicago?
Chicago is a visitor-friendly city. CTA buses and trains, cabs and paid
visitor tours are quick and affordable ways to get around. Call the RTA
