Cool Jazz Thursdays

With the expansion of the entertainment and environment in the South Loop area, M/X Patio, an outdoor patio at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 2233 S. Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago, Illinois, has launched a great entertainment event this summer with the inauguration of Cool Jazz Thursdays. Every Thursday evening this Summer, beginning June 11, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m., M/X Patio will be filled with the music of featured Jazz musicians from Columbia College. Additionally, the event will include a cigar bar and featured menu items from Shor.

Jazzin' at the Shedd Aquarium

1200 South Lake Shore Drive on Chicago’s Museum Campus.
Shedd Aquarium becomes Chicago’s premier jazz venue again with another season of Jazzin’ at the Shedd. This Chicago tradition combines some of the area’s best bands, the city’s breathtaking skyline and an unrivaled array of aquatic animals from around the world. Add light refreshments and drinks, and you’ve got an unbeatable summer evening of fun.
Jazzin’ happens every Thursday evening from June 4 through Aug. 27. Bands play on Shedd’s north terrace and inside at the Caribbean Reef. Ticket sales begin at 5 p.m., and we stay open until 10 p.m. (Oceanarium and Wild Reef exhibit until 8 p.m.). Admission is $12 a person ($18 for entry into Wild Reef) Jazzin' is free for Shedd members.

Medal of Honor Screening

A free screening of a documentary on August 13th in Grant Park.
The film traces the history of our nation's highest medal for valor in combat from Iraq back to the Civil War, when it was created. Two recipients will be there to talk with filmgoers. The film kicks off the Medal of Honor Society's annual meeting, being held this year in Chicago, September 15-19.

Beginning in July, talented jazz artists including Elbio Barilari & Kahil El Zabar, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Robert Irving III, Bunky Green, Willie Pickens, Ron Perrillo, Jon Faddis and the Great Black Music Ensemble infuse their jazz beats at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion.
